Dear Partners,
We are amazed at God’s goodness towards us during our move and setting up home here in “green”, yes, green Chihuahua. We have been pleasantly surprised by the cool rainy weather and green hills! Our border crossing from the U.S. into Mexico with all of our household furnishings etc. went very well. We were quickly greeted by a couple of our neighbors just a short bit after we arrived to our new home. Yes, Carlos & Edith have been a huge help to us! Carlos helped Ron figure out our water problem and took him to the various offices to get things fixed. Someone had stolen our water meter and the water to our house was shut off. Ron has been busy hanging bathroom mirrors, curtain rods, and closet poles since none these things had been done. It’s a good thing he’s so handy. He’s also been making efforts to find ways to ‘connect’ with people at the nearby university. He is asking the Lord to open doors for him to make friends with students, professors, leaders, coaches, WHOEVER… We would really like the opportunity to engage with non-Christians in this community.
We’ve found it very encouraging to rely on our Mexican neighbors to learn the ropes of how everything works around here. It has been a great way to build friendships in our new community. We are so thankful for a good beginning. Pray for us as Ron leaves for Indonesia & the Philippines next week. I’ll stay here and trust the Lord for more bonding among our neighbors, and helping out in different areas with the new missionaries here and our Mexican brothers and sisters that are starting up a new year in the Mexican Bible School.
Attached is a photo of the mountain we call “fish mountain”. It is right behind our new home. If you look very closely you can see a white spot just a ways above the “fish”; that would be Ron hiking up the mountain (I’m in a gray shirt so you can’t see me). The wildflowers and view were beautiful!
Thanks for your prayers and love. Oh how we appreciate them.
Desiring to be a light here, and servants to the Church in extending the Gospel around the world,
Ron & Kandy.
